THE PROJECT

CHASE THE STRIPES Premium products deserve premium stories. To earn adidas' trust and gain access to its most sought-after releases, DefShop needed to prove it could tell stories worthy of the product. Challenge: DefShop was primarily recognised as a value-driven streetwear retailer. To strengthen its relationship with adidas and gain access to more premium product launches, the brand needed to demonstrate it could speak to a broader, more fashion-conscious Gen Z audience while elevating its creative language. Idea: Rather than creating a traditional product campaign, we treated the launch like the trailer for a film that didn't exist. Inspired by cinematic sci-fi, the campaign followed a community chasing a mysterious object through the city—revealed only briefly as the latest adidas release. By revealing just enough, we transformed product discovery into anticipation, positioning the shoe as something to desire rather than simply buy. To reinforce the premium positioning, the campaign combined entirely analogue photography and video with contemporary VFX. The contrast between tactile, handcrafted imagery and modern visual effects created a cinematic world that felt both nostalgic and futuristic, reflecting the ambition of the product and the evolving direction of the DefShop brand. Outcome: The campaign became a turning point in DefShop's relationship with adidas, demonstrating the brand's ability to tell premium, culturally relevant stories beyond traditional retail marketing. As a result, DefShop was granted a level of product access typically reserved for specialist sneaker retailers, opening the door to future premium launches. The featured release sold out multiple times and helped reposition DefShop as a credible destination for exclusive footwear and a more fashion-conscious generation of consumers. My Role: Led the project from concept through production, defining the creative narrative, visual language and execution across film, photography, digital and social touchpoints.
